Back in 1985, students from Karlsruhe founded meeting of geophysics student from all over Germany. The idea of presenting their home institution to "foreign" students was a huge success and consequently, the meeting takes places every year in a different city!
GAP tries to establish and improve contacts between geophysics students and give an insight into the work of the host institute. Furthermore, the programme consists of presentations, interesting trips and workshops. Knowledge about e.g. job entry and internships can easily be gained.
Inbetween, GAP became a solid annual meeting with international flair since students from different european countries take part (Poland, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland, to name just a few). Over the years, GAP also took place in Poland, Austria and Switzerland.

For the 25th anniversary of GAP in 2010 it will return to Karlsruhe!
